About IIFR

IIFR is an autonomous academic unit, housed within Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's Delhi Campus, established to strengthen faculty capability, research excellence, and academic leadership across India and the Global South. India's higher education transformation under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 demands a parallel transformation in its faculty. Without future-ready educators, systemic reform cannot achieve its intended impact. IIFR is designed as that foundational intervention.

India's higher education system is undergoing profound transformation under NEP 2020, which envisions multidisciplinary universities, a vibrant research culture, and global competitiveness. Yet a foundational gap persists: the chronic shortage of qualified, future-ready faculty. Faculty vacancies stand at 31% in prestigious Indian Schools of Management and exceed 50% in Tier 2 institutions. This shortage is linked to limited PhD and DBA pipelines, the allure of corporate salaries, and outdated pedagogical frameworks that fail to bridge industry and academia.
